Connecting Through Support
Objectives and Procedures of the All Myanmar Shia Muslim Organization
Objectives
- To promote the comprehensive development in all aspects of the entire Shia Muslim community residing within the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
- To foster mutual understanding and friendly cooperation between Shia Muslims and people of various ethnicities and religions.
- To responsibly undertake matters related to religion and faith peacefully and within the legal framework.
Procedures
- To achieve the above objectives, the following procedures will be implemented:
- (a) Organizing the national annual conference for Shia Muslims.
- (b) Formulating and implementing short-term and long-term plans.
- (c) Opening an organization-owned library; publishing religious educational books and literature; conducting training courses; setting policies.
- (d) Collaborating with domestic and international organizations sharing similar objectives.
- (e) Forming and operating divisional, state, and township-level branch organizations.
- After forming the Executive Committee, the Organization has continuously carried out social, health, education, economic, and religious welfare activities for Shia Muslim adherents and has striven to obtain recognition from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.
- As a result of these efforts, the Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, held a meeting with multi-faith representatives at the Zabu Thiri Hall in Nay Pyi Taw on April 12, 2024. The “All Myanmar Shia Muslim Organization” was invited to this ceremony and received a land grant of 2 acres from the State to construct necessary buildings for carrying out state-assigned religious activities.
- Efforts are ongoing to progressively construct a mosque, an Imam Bargah, and an Islamic Center on the land provided by the State for the Shia Muslims of Myanmar.
- The All Myanmar Shia Muslim Organization held its First Annual Meeting and a ceremony honoring matriculation exam successful students on July 16, 2023, and its Second Annual Meeting on March 10, 2024.
- Efforts are underway to form divisional, state, and township-level branch organizations. Branch organizations have been successfully formed in Mon State (Mawlamyine Township), Bago Region (Pyay Township), and Ayeyarwady Region (Wakema Township). Efforts continue to form branches in other States, Regions, and Townships where Shia Muslims reside.
- On February 23, 2025, to mark the 80th anniversary of the All Burma Shia Muslim Organizations, a nationwide conference and annual meeting were grandly and vibrantly held, with invitations extended to relevant department leaders and other Muslim organizations.
